A kid at an elementary school restlessly fidgets his legs, waiting for the bell. As the class ends, he packs his books at sonic speed to get home as soon as possible. He enters his home, throws his backpack, and reaches for his favorite new toy: the computer. He turns on his favorite game and puts his heart and soul into beating it.

This is how Stefan’s love for computers was born, which shaped him into what he is today: CTO at Flow Ninja.

“After elementary, I enrolled in a technical high school, which didn’t have to do much with what I was interested in. I was pretty mischievous during my high school days. Education wasn’t that important to me then,” Stefan admits.

When he completed high school, he wanted to follow his father’s steps by enrolling in medical school to become a radiologic technologist.

“Father has always been a role model when it comes to work. Besides working at a radiology clinic in a military treatment facility, he also ran a stand at a local marketplace. He has been trying to teach us how to be dedicated to work and how that can benefit us later in life.”

Going to a big city to study was a liberating experience for Stefan. “I was able to discover different paths in life. A big city taught me that a person can do anything.”

“Around that time, I started exploring the possibilities of making an income online. I was boosting and selling Instagram pages and even explored dropshipping.”

While studying radiology, Stefan learned the most important matter of the heart: he found the love of his life, Tamara, whom he married. They became parents to a boy and a girl.

Stefan and Flow Ninja: Blood Is Thicker Than Water

“During my student days, my younger brother introduced me to a platform called Webflow,” Stefan remembered.

If you explored our site, you might have seen a familiar face: Uroš is Stefan’s younger brother and the founder of Flow Ninja.

Despite learning Webflow and working as a freelance developer, Stefan wasn’t ready to give up on the radiology knowledge. He returned to Niš, where he got a job at the local cardio clinic.

“Working at the clinic was an important step in my life. For the first time, I was in a professional working environment, working with many different people.”

Stefan also remembers that the clinic gave him a deeper — almost philosophical — insight into life and work: “Patients with various problems would come to the clinic. Some of them lived a really short life. I’ve also witnessed people being given a second chance at life. I’ve seen hearts giving up, and I’ve seen hearts that refused to stop beating.”

Stefan simultaneously handled a couple of Webflow projects as his side hustle, one being with his younger brother. “Uroš has always been more of a visionary, while I had this down-to-earth approach to work.”

However, when the brothers landed the first enterprise client, Stefan wasn’t two minds about leaving the radiology work anymore.

This was a unique opportunity for him to return to the place where his heart was truly at: computers.

How’s It Going at Flow Ninja, Stefi?

“I truly love the team we’ve built. Every single member is always ready to assist, even if it’s something outside work.”

Stefan admits that the work at Flow Ninja is challenging, but that’s what’s also exciting about it: “We’re learning something new every day. Webflow is continuously evolving, and we make sure to always be at the forefront and adopt the new knowledge as soon as possible. I also love how this job also means continuous improvement of communication — be it with clients or colleagues.”

Stefan recalls many great memories but claims his favorite is when they moved into their first office. “There were only four or five of us in a tiny office. It’s where it all started, and that memory is close to my heart.”

A Round of Rapid-Fire Questions for Stefan

We asked Stefan a couple of quick questions.

What’s your favourite remote week location?

Well, I like coming to the office, even when we’re not obliged to. I go there, as I know I’ll get the work done while at the office. If I had to choose, it’d probably be somewhere by the seaside, watching the sunset.

Can you recommend a book or a movie?

I don’t have anything to recommend. But I can recommend people find time for as many books, movies, and podcasts as they can and try to utilize that knowledge in their day-to-day life.

Anything else to add?

Well, I just want to say that people would always get to the “ifs” of their “what ifs.” It’s the only way to challenge our current reality, satisfy our curiosity, and foster growth in any area of life.
